Hi, we’re Maggie and Cecilia, co-founders of The Wellfolk. We are both therapists based in Bend, OR with over fifteen years of experience each.
We met in Santa Barbara as college students more than twenty years ago and have been friends ever since. Somewhere along the way, we realized we were both craving opportunities to connect with people that were deeper, more creative and dynamic than the conventional therapy room could hold. Over time, we’ve seen more and more people searching for spaces where both science and soul can meet. We believe that laughter, beauty, sharing good food and honest conversations can be just as healing as any clinical model. We trust that every person intrinsically has inner healing knowledge and we would love to help you uncover that in whatever way you choose. Whether this is an addition or an alternative to a traditional therapy setting, we would love to have you.
Our approach is integrative, holistic, grounded in nature and a little bit playful. We believe that real healing involves the whole self and sometimes that means stepping outside of our 53 minute talk therapy sessions. We love our day jobs as much as we love hosting elaborate dinner parties for friends. Together, we curate experiences and environments that feel nourishing and alive to your body, mind and spirit. We create spaces that invite a re-connection to self - and others if you want.
Whether you’re feeling cautious or curious (or both, we get it!) - you’re welcome here. Wherever you are on your path, we’d be honored to walk a little of it with you. We can’t wait to meet you.
A little bit about us
Cecilia McCusker, MA, LMFT
Cecilia is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a sensitive, intuitive, and grounded presence. Guided by her own lifelong learning of how to reconnect to her own mind, body and spirit, she enjoys helping others to feel more fully themselves by integrating these parts. She loves to create beautiful spaces and circles that allow people to show up authentically and sprinkles in warmth, humor and compassion in to any setting she is a part of.
With a love of hosting and a creative spirit, Cecilia finds joy in curating whimsy and a little magic in experiences that foster connection and healing. She loves to create thoughtfully held meaning making experiences and believes that healing doesn’t have to be heavy—that moments of delight, play, and laughter can also be the way forward. Equally, she possesses the ability to hold and walk toward darker spaces and shadows with clients when needed and assist in creating a safe container to enter in to some of the harder things. She believes most people have the capacity for self healing and an inner knowing of how to do this, sometimes only a little more support is needed. In the therapeutic setting she enjoys using EMDR and brainspotting to work through tough spots with clients. She also could talk about the neuroscience of psychedelics all day long to anyone who will listen because she so believes in their healing potential. She loves science AND crystals.
When she isn’t at work, Cecilia loves gardening, reading, cooking, being in any body of water, pottery, collecting trinkets and treasures and spending time with her family. She loves all things food and wine and enjoys exploring and adventuring anywhere she can. She lives in Bend with her husband, two kids and 10 year old puppy-esque Bernese Mountain Dog. The rhythm of her home life, her creative passions, and her connection to nature continually inspire the groundedness, joy, and presence she brings to every client and retreat.
Maggie Walsh, MS, LMFT
Maggie is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and yoga teacher who believes that true healing begins when we align body, mind, and soul and intentionally move toward wholeness. Her compassionate and holistic approach invites others to slow down, reconnect with their inner wisdom, and explore what it means to live with authenticity and presence.
Throughout her life, Maggie has embraced the power of retreating into a beautiful place to connect with self and others as one of the most meaningful things that we can do. She believes that true well-being comes from the ongoing efforts we make to find balance between movement and stillness, depth and lightness, ancient wisdom and modern practices. Having spent as much time as she can in Ireland connecting with nature and the land, her work is guided by the Celtic perspective of the cycles of nature and the seasons as a guide to embracing the rhythms of life.
Maggie brings a creative eye for curating spaces and experiences that foster a sense of healing, rest, and beauty by finding joy in attending to every detail. Whether guiding clients through a therapeutic process or hosting a retreat, she weaves together mindfulness, movement, humor and soulful reflection to create environments that feel both nurturing and inspiring.
Maggie enjoys the art of intentional living, keeping herself in tune with nature by making tea from fresh herbs and flowers, shaping ceramics by hand, hosting dinner parties with fresh and local food or designing spaces and experiences that feel like an invitation to slow down and breathe. Her love of travel, wild swimming, yoga, food and wine along with the constant reminder of the importance of play that is brought to her daily by her energetic her yellow lab puppy, Seamus, continually renews her connection to the simple, grounding joys that inspire her life and work.
Through her presence and practice, Maggie offers a space for others to come home to themselves. Her down-to-earth, balanced presence invites others to slow down, listen deeply, and discover what becomes possible when we are able to meet ourselves with compassion and curiosity.
